Recently, several serious fire accidents occurred domestically, resulting in casualties and serving profound lessons. The university attaches great importance to this matter and convened a special safety work meeting at the earliest opportunity to arrange and deploy campus safety work in the near term.
According to the spirit of the university's safety work meeting, on January 28, 2024, the university held a special safety work meeting to arrange recent safety work. Comrade Wang Jun, the Secretary of the Party Committee, conveyed the specific requirements of the university's special safety work meeting. The Deputy Dean instructed the administrative vice dean to promptly convey the relevant requirements for safety work in the school's work group to ensure that all faculty and staff are aware of the situation. Meanwhile, relevant comrades from the Experimental Center were organized to conduct another safety inspection of various laboratories in the school to eliminate hidden dangers. The Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee led the student affairs cadres to promptly convey the spirit of the meeting to the student dormitories, strengthen the education management of students living in dormitories, and eliminate safety hazards in dormitories. Dean Cao Ruonan made detailed arrangements for various safety work and required each department to implement them as soon as possible according to the requirements.
On the afternoon of January 29, the Deputy Dean led a team, along with relevant comrades from the Experimental Center and part-time safety officers, to conduct a second inspection of various laboratories and key office areas under the Experimental Center one by one. During the inspection, a leak was found in a heating pipe in one of the laboratories, which was promptly addressed. After the investigation, potential safety hazards during the holiday were re-evaluated, and emergency plans were made according to specific circumstances.
On the eve of the winter vacation, the laboratory safety leadership group of the school held a special work meeting on laboratory safety for the holiday. The meeting referenced two documents, The Safety Regulations for Higher Education Laboratories and The Checklist for Safety Inspection of Higher Education Laboratories, to conduct self-inspection and self-correction of potential safety risks in the laboratories. Safety inspections were carried out in all laboratories, and at the same time, all office premises and laboratories were equipped with updated fire-fighting equipment.
