On the afternoon of October 10, Li Hui, the Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, led the heads of relevant departments and the university's teaching supervisors to our school to conduct a survey and discussion on the review and evaluation work of undergraduate education and teaching. Members of the school's leadership team and representatives from various departments attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Li Ming, the Associate Dean of Teaching, gave a detailed introduction to the establishment of the evaluation organization, the advancement of the implementation work, the random inspection of exam paper management, the organization and digitization of teaching archives, the revision and review of teaching syllabi, the promotion of the school features, and the preparation of typical case studies and self-evaluation reports. She analyzed the issues encountered during the self-evaluation and construction process and briefly reported on the following steps in the work plan. Li expressed hope that the Academic Affairs Office would provide guidance and support for the AI-enabled teaching reform project and the interdisciplinary undergraduate education model under the new liberal arts context.
Zhao Zhihou, the Secretary of the school's Party Committee, further emphasized the school's commitment to the evaluation and assessment in the areas of party building, student affairs, and foreign affairs. He stated that the school will continue to place high importance on teaching management, adopt multiple measures to address the review and evaluation of undergraduate education and teaching, and actively explore interdisciplinary education models under the new liberal arts context, aiming for high-quality development in disciplines and talent cultivation.
Professor Zhu Juxian, the teaching supervisor, along with Cheng Wan, the head of the Practice Department, and Yang Zhiwen, the head of the Academic Affairs Department, expressed their affirmation on the school’s work related to the review and evaluation of undergraduate education and teaching. They also pointed out the difficulties and bottlenecks encountered during the discipline evaluation and emphasized the need to enhance communication and collaboration between the university and the school so as to advance various tasks more effectively.
After listening to the report, Li Hui, the Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, expressed encouragement and support for the school's attempts in teaching reform. He reminded the team about the common and specific issues in the evaluation and review process, suggesting that the school should concentrate personnel efforts, form specialized teams, and learn from other departments to accurately implement the university’s discipline evaluation tasks.
Additionally, Su Rui, the Vice Dean of Research, and Li Tie, the head of the English Department, provided feedback during the meeting on issues such as the course selection system, international student management, and credit implementation, offering relevant suggestions.
After the meeting, Deputy Director Li Hui and his team visited the school's archives for the English, Japanese, and Russian programs to know more about the school's professional teaching and management practices.
